Gynecology, also known as women’s medicine, deals with the onset and treatment of diseases of the female genital tract. Precautionary measures also play an important role here, whether it is for cancer screening or the appropriate prevention of currently unwanted pregnancies. Women who would also like to have children but have so far been unable to conceive may also come for a consultation. Obstetrics is concerned with the monitoring and supervision of pregnancies.
Cardiology deals with diseases of the heart and their consequential risk factors. This includes, among other things, hypertension, heart valve defects, circulatory disorders of the heart (coronary heat disease), heart failure, various forms of diseases of the heart muscle (cardiomyopathy) and numerous other diseases.
At our site Genève Gare Cornavin we offer the following services:
- General cardiology
- Transthoracic echocardiography
- Long-term ECG (Holter)
- Ambulatory blood pressure measurement (Remler)

Manual medicine works on acute back point (for example, the dreaded “lumbago”) and chronic back pain, as well as joint and muscle ailments. The muscles, tendons and joints are not directly damaged, but they do not work together in cohesion, which is why the sufferer is afflicted with pain and limits to their range and quality of movement. The pain resulting from these “functional” problems can arise quite a distance from the actual source of the problem.
The healing process begins immediately after the initial visit to the doctor and usually just a few treatment sessions are sufficient. After this, it is the individual’s own active cooperation and personal responsibility that are key. With consistent training, the patient can prevent a relapse and remain free from complaints for the long term.
Orthopedic surgery and Sports traumatology specialize in the treatment and detection of diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system.
Because we are living longer, our musculoskeletal system is placed under increased stress and strain (e.g. At work, during our recreational activities and in sport) and there is a clear rise in injuries and degenerative processes as a result.
The use of innovative medical technology provides for an improved assessment and treatment of these kinds of problems, which naturally also helps towards a faster healing process.

An American doctor, Andrew Taylor Still (1828-1917), went looking for a new understanding of health and disease. The basis for osteopathy is formed on the basic understanding that the body contains all it requires to maintain its own health (self-healing powers) and that the mind, body and spirit are form a single unit.
In osteopathy, the person is divided into three main areas:
- Parietal (musculoskeletal system, connective tissues)
- Visceral (abdominal organs)
- Craniosacral (skull, spinal fluid, meninges, sensory organs, sacrum)
When is osteopathy used?
In infants and young children, for example, birth-related facial and cranial deformations, scoliosis, infections in the middle ear cavity, allergies, KISS syndrome, colic children, torticollis, hip deformities, learning and concentration difficulties and to regulate jaw structure.
In adults, for example, acute back pain or tension, joint problems, traumas, migraines, tinnitus, headaches, TMJ/TMD disorders, minor digestive problems, (heartburn, depressive moods), burnout syndrome, menstrual pain, menopausal or pregnancy monitoring, scars and adhesions after an operation.
How does osteopathy work?
Through touch with special manipulations the osteopath will relieve tension and restore balance in and around these systems to help the body’s own healing mechanisms.
Refunding of costs
The costs for osteopathy are usually covered by supplementary health insurance. Ask your health insurance provider for more details.
A sports massage supplements the classic and medical massage. The same manipulation techniques are used, such as stroking, kneading, circular frictions, etc. as well as some other techniques that are not used as often in classic massages (e.g. tapping, shaking motions, vibration)
With a sports massage a distinction is made between:
The period before the competition:
- A few days before (predominantly loosening up the frame, stretching, relaxing)
- Immediately before the performance (stimulating the blood circulation/frames, muscles, ligaments, tendons, skin, etc. through quick and hard manipulation techniques, mental preparation for performing)
During / in between competitions
- For example with athletics, swimming competitions, etc.
After the competition:
- Directly after performing
- A few days after the competition
The treatment is drawn up on an individual basis with the athlete tailored to the type of sport, the duration of the treatments and the respective objective.
